Daddy & Mommy’s Movie Outing

What an eventful Sunday. After service, I brought Jayvon to his grandparents place (at the f-a-r west… Bukit Panjang!) for them to spend some quality time with him. Met Nic there, and we went to grab a quick lunch at Changi Airport’s Popeyes (yes, all the way BACK to the east side again), before attending the Wedding Co-ordinator training course at 3 p.m. It was a fun time, and when it ended earlier than expected, we decided to grab the opportunity to catch a movie. One of the rare, rare, RARE times since Jayvon-ian days! Hahaha!

We decided to rush for the 5.30 p.m. show at the new Filmgarde cinema at Iluma, and watched Night at the Museum 2.

I watched the first Night at the Museum, and was amused at the campy storyline and cute animations (do you remember the dinosaur? It totally cracked me up!) and so we thought this would be a good enjoyable “fluff-y” kinda show.

Well, it was quite a “fluff.”

I wasn’t particularly entertained nor excited at any point, as it all seemed a bit “tired.” I guess it is a victim of its own success. The first instalment was fresh and exciting and interesting, and this second one which was basically a rehash of all things and creatures in the first instalment fell a distant second.

The only memorable point of the movie, for me, came at the ending few minutes of the show, featuring again – my favourite dinosaur! Of course, there were some high points and laugh-out-loud moments, but overall the movie failed to inspire imagination.

Entertainment value (out of 5 stars):  3-5 stars

Storyline:1-5 stars

Should you watch it? Well, maybe – if you’ve caught all the other (better) shows like Star Trek or Wolverine, and if it is on a weekday when movie tickets are cheaper! From how much we spent for the ticket, it is definitely not value-for-money for us!

I'm not a huge Ben Stiller fan but had been thinking of seeing this. Thanks for the review and the warning! :)

I loved the first one. It was so unique and fresh. I am sad to hear this one is such a let down
