“City Harvest Church Members Rally”

I wanted to get a copy of The Straits Times this morning, after sending Jay off to school. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t find a single copy. Well, scandal does sell newspapers, I guess… Thank goodness for the online version, then! Haha!

I was encouraged to read the headlines “Followers Rally Around City Harvest Leaders”. The report gave various quotes on members expressing their support of Pastor Kong and the church. One member whose twitter account I follow even commented on her tweet that reporters trying to get quotes from CHC members would do well to read our tweets!

And apparently the reporters do do so.

The article quoted a tweet by Pastor Aries, as he thanked the members for the support and prayers.

The scary thing? This next line of the article: “The founding member of the church was not at home when The Straits Times tried to visit him twice yesterday.”

W-WHAT???!???!??

Ok wait. Maybe I was over-reacting.

But I read the line a few times. And I am still taken aback. “The founding member of the church was not at home when The Straits Times tried to visit him twice yesterday.”

So the reporter didn’t just go to the church office or the church premises but to his HOME? And not just once but twice? Wherever did they get his home address from? It’s pretty chilling, if you ask me. Don’t tell me this isn’t paparazzi-like behaviour. Are there no boundaries in your so-called pursuit of a story?
