Reminiscing 2012

How has 2012 been for you?

This year has zoomed by… and at the end of every year, the lyrics of this song by Don Moen that we usually “reserve” for year-end gatherings come to mind:

“All that I am, all that I have
I lay them down before you, oh Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaims
The joy and the pain, I'm making them yours

Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my heart, all of my praise
My heart and my hands are lifted to you”

This song seems especially poignant, when it comes to the end of the year and 12 months have slipped by. 365 days. 8,760 hours. 525,600 minutes. So before we embark on 2013, it seems right to also look back and remember the good, the bad and the ugly of 2012.

To help me on this journey, I had to rely on… my trusty Canon Powershot S95, to see the highlights I’d captured on my camera!

The Highs of 2012

1) The food…

2012-foodI realized how scarily easy it was to put together this montage of the outings we had with friends, and the calories taken in. Gulp.

But I thank God for good food and better company, and look forward to yummier gatherings in 2013!

2) The fun…2012-family What fun we were up to with the kiddos in 2012! Loads of playgrounds, wheeling fun, art classes, splashing around and even did my first Neoprint with the boys! In times like this, when my memory seems to blur and fade and mix together am I thankful for my blog – the memories captured here help me recollect the good times!

4) The foursome...

steph-tan-sandra-0012v2100My life with three men. Depending on the day, if you asked me how my life was, I’d probably say, “Awesome.” Or “Tiring.” Or “Awesomely tiring.”

But fulfilling to the maximum.

And I wouldn’t trade wiping runny noses, buying matchy-matchy clothes for the boys and tickling matches for the Loewes or Balenciagas in the world. (Though a Christmas present would be ever-welcome. Haha!)

The Challenges of 2012

From handling one kid to juggling work and TWO kids, 2012 is definitely a year of the s-t-r-e-t-c-h. I’m not just talking about my waistline or my pregnancy stretch marks here (Let’s not get depressing) nor even my wallet (Another sad story), but the stretching of my time, my mental capacity, my love tank, my patience…

I must admit, the best compliment I received this year was when someone told me, “You seem to have it altogether. You make it look easy.”

After I did my “Are you talking to me? Are you talking about me?” jig, I am both relieved and … well, just relieved really. That if on the inside I am in turmoil half the time, yet at least I look like I have it altogether on the outside.

IMG_8526 I have had my share of maid woes as well, and I look forward to some reprieve in 2013. Haha!

What 2013 holds

I am looking forward to 2013 because …

  • Of the newest arrival to our family. Another prince? A princess for a change? I have NO idea how we are going to cope with three kids, but for sure, it will be an exciting year ahead!
  • Xav goes to childcare in January! I am looking forward to him enjoying school with his older brother (and for me to have SOME quiet timemight  before the madness starts again).
  • Some exciting new developments that might happen.
