Jay is currently attending childcare, and Xav is set to join his older brother in a few month’s time (How time flies!)
As a full-time working mother, I feel that a full-day childcare is the best option for my two kids. They’d be able to not just learn, but also interact and have fun with friends the whole day! And given how happy he is to attend school each day (of course, there are I-don’t-want-to-go-school-and-I-want-to-go-Takashimaya days, but thankfully, these are now few and far between), I am also happy he has a whole lot of fun in his school! Childcare isn’t for every kid (or every parent), but I sure am glad it works for us!
Being in an enclosed environment with other children, their health is my top priority. To keep both boys healthy, I abide by these three simple rules:
#1: Make sure they get all their vaccinations before the first day of school. This sounds trivial, but when Jay was slated to start school, I purposely made my way down to the paediatrician's, just to ensure all the must-have and good-to-have shots are all done!
#2: I will get fruits… LOADS of fruits! I love fruits, and thankfully my boys have inherited this trait too! A few weeks back, we decided to bring the kids to get new shoes at Elly – and on the spur of the moment, bought some snacks at the Cold Storage and went to the Botanical Gardens for an impromptu picnic! And guess what’s on the menu?
Cherries, strawberries & sushi! A most expensive picnic. Hahaha!
Xav polished off three of these huge strawberries by himself!
And Jay had a feast as well! As you can see… my boys love their fruits!
#3: Loads of healthy play time! Of course, there’re the usual playgrounds to bring them to, but we also try to bring the kids out at least once or twice a weeknight, just to get them out of the house, and burning some energy! Weekends are precious for this purpose as well – and we try to get in a spot of exercise (yes, in the sun too!) for the kids. The beach is a stone’s throw away, so Saturday mornings are usually spent there.
How about you? Any tips to keeping your kids healthy?
