That Long-awaited Day…

is finally here!

We’ll be jetting off to Kuala Lumpur (an hour’s flight away), and going up to Genting Highlands for a time of total Rest & Rejunevation! Hahaha!

I’ve been planning and looking forward to this trip for the longest time, as it marks (quite sadly) our first family trip for the past 2-odd years!

So now, the bags are packed and our hearts are full of anticipation!

See you all in 4 days’ time!

Our 1st Family Holiday!

image

Oh I am so happy that we’ve finally managed to get ‘off the ground’ on our family holiday plans!

We’ve mulled and talked and thought and mulled some more about where and when we should take our first overseas trip as a family. As Nic is enrolled in Bible School, it was a bit hard to get away. But he’s going to graduate in mid-August *yay!* and so we’re planning a short getaway the week after his graduation *double yay*!

So in less than 2 months’ time, we will be carting off to a short trip to Genting Highland/Kuala Lumpur with baby and maid in tow. Got to make it a short trip to a nearby place for the moment, and will plan for a longer trip to somewhere further soon (fingers & toes crossed…)

After hearing and seeing so many of my colleagues flying off for a quick overseas getaway for the past many months, I am SO glad it is going to be my turn soon! Can’t wait to send that “I am overseas and CAN’T reply your emails” email! Hahaha!

Okay… back to reality. Got to work-work-work now. After all, FOP’s coming up!

Wanderlust Part 1

Last week in the office, Grace was excitedly telling about how airfares have dropped, and an air-ticket to Taiwan was now only less than S$400! This really “stirred” up my desire to want to TRAVEL!!!

And Taiwan was such a fun place for me. I’ve been there about three or four times already, mostly with church friends, but I’ve enjoyed it so much!

It is such an interesting place! I loved walking and discovering their night markets, and basking in the sights and sounds of Taiwan!

Here are some of my photos from my past trips!

This was a hilarious shot (I thought!) Walking by myself down one of the streets, I saw someone fixing this sign. It says “Xin Ju Dan” – or literally New Huge Egg! Haha! It actually refers to a convention centre that they have, and it is curiously egg-shaped. Though I knew this, nevertheless the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that arrow sign was, “So what did they do with the old egg?”

On one particular trip, I travelled from Kaohsiung to Taipei (from the south to the north of Taiwan) in a matter of days. My travelling partner and I took various modes of transport to experience. We tried the bullet train & luxury coaches (like the photo above).  The bus only had 10-over huge couches, and each couch was a massage chair, and the in-bus entertainment? Watching the local TV shows on the small TV screen!

One of the MANY night markets I went too! Check out the crowd! :)

Xi Men Ding in Taipei! Awesome place to shop!!!

Time of this photo: 5AM (!!) Cynthia & I were about to leave for the airport but we just couldn’t resist taking a cab for a VERY early morning breakfast at our favourite “liang mian” stall! It looks simple but it tastes heavenly!

Writing this entry has brought back many fond memories!

My Sydney trip

Back from our three-day marathon in Sydney. Left on a MH flight on Sat at 7p.m. Our SIN-KUL flight got delayed, so more time to shop @ Changi Airport duty free! Haha... Got loads of make-up & my DKNY perfume... Yippee! A GOOD start to the holiday! From KUL, we reached Sydney on Sunday 9 a.m. (Syd time, 2 hours ahead of S'pore).

Spent the whole of Sunday eating & walking & shopping. In that order... LOL. Went to Dragon Gate @ Chinatown for a lovely dim sum breakfast, then had Thai food for lunch near The Rocks (cos Pancakes was closed for renovations... Oh man...), then fish & chips @ Watsons Bay, and met Nic's school friends @ Una's (an Austrian restaurant that serves the BEST chicken schnitzel, deep-fried cheese & deep-fried mushrooms... Yummy! Reminiscent of Taiwan Shilin Ye Shi's mushrooms!).

Rolling out of bed bright & early the next day, we spent the entire day @ Blue Mountains & walked the Jenolan Caves... There was even 1 cave called 'Temple of Baal'! Gosh... We went for the Imperial Cave route though.

Reaching the city again, we went on to have the yummiest Korean food.

Check out my 'mini seafood omelette'... I ate 1/3 and couldn't take it no more! Hahaha! Huge servings!!! Coffee with Edwin & Peifen ended the day... Our very FIRST cuppa since Sunday!

Tuesday was a mad rush... We managed to squeeze in breakfast @ Fish Market & then a bit of nougat-shopping @ Chinatown before rushing back to the hotel to check out & get pretty for Nic's graduation.

Had a wonderful ceremony. Thank God for the opportunity that Nic had to really shine for God in UNSW... His Head of School even came by to speak to his parents (I had to interpret...) to share his congratulations as well as to explain to them the magnitude of the Uni Medal. PTL! :) God is indeed good. His parents were speechless!

Ah well, back to very humid Singapore...
