What is passion?

What is passion?

Webster defines it as an "intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction" and "a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept."

Some quotes on this topic of PASSION include:

"Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion."

"Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us." (Heb 12:1, Amp Bible)

"Follow your passion, and success will follow you."

"Without passion man is a mere latent force and possibility, like the flint which awaits the shock of the iron before it can give forth its spark."

"A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position."

Vision fulfillment is dependent upon passion possession. But more than that, LIFE fulfillment is dependent upon your passion.

Can we have the passion to keep on when circumstances are contrary? When the sound of the encouragers & supporters in our lives fade off, and in their place, comes the voice of discouragement, disbelief and mockery?

It is so easy to get pumped up. So easy to shout "Yes!" and "Amen!" during a good church service or cell group. So easy to nod our heads in agreement as we read a good motivational book.

But a balloon deflates. A battery runs low. An asset depreciates. Even water evaporates. And so it is with our faith and passion level - it leaks. No longer will it be the same tomorrow as it is today if we leave it as it is. No longer will we feel the same way about our destiny, if left to ourselves to rot for too long.

Think this is why I love working in church. Haha! As physically tiring at times though it may be, but I love and appreciate at the prospect of being a part (albeit a small one) of this great church and in all that God is doing. Long gone are the days that working in church is like the "last" option... "Cannot make it elsewhere, ah well, let's just work in a church..." Truly, God is raising up a whole new generation. Our staff are getting more and more qualified, studying for their Bachelor's and their Masters. Attending more seminars and conferences, and tapping into the pulse of what is going on in the world out there.

There is an underlying current. Not an ominous, evil one. But an underlying current of PASSION. For all that God has done for us and through us... We also want it to last to perpetuity. The more God moves, the more we want God to continue to move. Stripping off the modern & professional facade, lies a core of basic Christian values, imbedded since the inception of this church.

I love Your house!!!
