Went to the zoo-zoo-zoo (again)!

This time, with Jay and his classmates… and it was just Jay and I! No Daddy! (He wasn’t able to get away from work…) Make that just Jay and I… and a busload of his classmates and their parents!

And it was a fun morning literally hanging with the kids!

Meet Noah. Jay’s BFF.

They were inseparable!

IMG_2011

Which was good for Noah’s mommy and I. Haha!

Except when Jay decided to play hard to get, and refuse to hold Noah’s hand, making the poor boy get into a fuss.

Most of the time, they held hands. All. The. Way.

Too cute, really!

It was just a few hours spent at the zoo.

And I was totally wasted once I reached home. If Baby X’s delivery’s as smooth as Jay’s was… I have such day trips to thank for getting my prenatal exercise in! Hahaha!

JAY’S DAY

Time flies! I cannot believe Jayvon is now two years old. Oh. My. Goodness.

Where did all those months go???

Having him has irrevocably changed our lives, as it should. And seeing his cheeky little smile is the right salve for no matter what fatigue and ‘battle scars’ that day brings.

We decided to bring Jay to the Singapore Zoo as his special birthday treat. He always adores animals, and loves each Zoo outing!

This time round, we rented the wagon to cart him around. At $15 it isn’t cheap.

But worth it. Beats us lugging him around! Haha!

And Jay had a blast visiting all his animal friends…

One of the highlights was when we went to the kangaroo exhibit. One naughty kangaroo hopped under and the enclosure and all the visitors started streaming towards this little fellow.

Enter Fearless Jay.

IMG_5254

While the other kids were content to pat the kangaroo’s back…

IMG_5255

he withheld his hands a little while at first.

IMG_5258

Daddy demonstrated it was alright to pat the kangaroo.

IMG_5260

Gingerly at first…

IMG_5262

Then he really got into it. And Daddy had to restrain him. Cos he gave the kangaroo a too-heavy pat. On the head.

IMG_5264

Kangaroo turned tail …

IMG_5265

Fearless Jay started giving chase.

IMG_5266

Almost caught him there…

IMG_5267

Contemplating whether or not to step on its nice “juicy” and fat tail.

He didn’t, of course.

But he sure looked like he was going to!

All the while chasing the kangaroo, Jay held his hands out and kept saying to the “Here!” to the kangaroo… Like I said, Fearless Jay was in the house.

Mommy? My heart skipped too many a beat! Haha!

Well, after our kangaroo adventure, everything else seemed a bit tame. But we still had loads of fun.

One of the amazing things about the zoo is its consistent and colourful theme throughout!

From the funky animal prints on its tram-rides…

IMG_5276

to the zebra-striped crossing…

IMG_5275

even the road lines were zebra-stripes printed!

IMG_5278

The rubbish bins were not spared either!

All in all, it was one hot, balmy Singapore afternoon…

And we had a blast of a time!

We Went To The Zoo (again…)!

We brought Jayvon to the zoo. Yes. Again. After his first trip, he enjoyed himself so thoroughly that we decided to make another trip to the zoo.

Since that first zoo trip, we made a more concerted effort to show picture books of elephants, cows, tigers, giraffes et al, so that he would better be able to recognize these animals the next time! And he loves the animals and the sounds they make.

“How does a tiger go?”

“…ah…”

“How does a cow go?”

“mmmmmmmmmmm!”

“How does a cat go?”

“…” (squeezes his eyes shut)

Don’t ask me why he shuts his eyes and wrinkles his nose instead of saying “meow…” Haha!

This morning, Nic, Teresa, Uma (our domestic helper), Jay and I trudged down all the way to Mandai to the zoo! First off, breakfast! And time for me to try out my new Canon EOS 400D.

Alright! Let’s see some animals!

But boy o boy, was it a hot day! Check out Jay’s funky hairstyle… And this was after the second exhibit – the white tiger…

_MG_0127

So by the time we ended off (after a mere 1 hour 45 minutes spent), he was already…

zzz

And so, this explains our couple-only shot, cos our prince was soundly (and I mean, soundly) asleep!

Methinks… a trip to Jurong BirdPark will be a good family outing the next time round!

Jay at the Singapore Zoo

We did it! We went to the Singapore Zoo this afternoon. One of our concerns was the scorching afternoon sun these few days, so I purposefully went over to get some sunblock for Baby and me, in anticipation of the hot day at the Zoo! Amazingly, when we reached at about 2.20 p.m., the weather was divine. The sky was overcast, and at times, a few fat drops of rain would fall, but due to the heavy foliage in the zoo, we were more or less sheltered. What a blast we had!

bigfish

One of the first exhibits we went to was to see the pygmy hippo. And just before that, we saw this … ugly scary slow-moving right out of a Stephen King movie fish. At least I think it is a fish. And Jay was enthralled by this ugly creature! The scary funny thing? That thing fish was stationary in the water. Absolutely stationary. I didn’t even see a fin move. Till Jayvon walked away. And. The. Fish. Followed. Him. Shudder….

On to nicer animals… We practically walked through the entire zoo. I kid you not. I reckon we got our money’s worth, cos we took in about 70-80% of the exhibits!

Here’s some pictures!

Nic & I took turns to carry Jayvon around. Not because he can’t walk. But whenever we set him down, he’d always give me a mini-heart attack by reaching down to the floor and grabbing some damp leaves. And giving them to Nic. And taking more leaves… So for my heart’s sake, we just took turns with him. And it was great having a fellow burden-carrier. I mean, baby-carrier. Coughcoughcough…

Remember in my previous post, I was looking forward to the Rainforest Kidzworld!

As we entered, this site greeted us.

IMG_2251

Daddy: ”Wah…”

Mommy: “You’re going in.”

Daddy: “You didn’t tell me it would be like this!”

Mommy: “I told you to bring extra clothes…”

Daddy: “Did you bring a towel?”

Mommy: “Of course!”

Daddy: “I meant for me?”

Mommy: “……… coughcoughcough………”

He enjoyed it… Until…

elephant

The giant elephant tank that would periodically fill up and splash like a ton of water did so. And the force of the splash (though Jay wasn’t that near it anyhow) “blew” him a couple of steps and covered him with cold drops of water. That was when he started bawling.

Ah well… Back to the animal exhibits then! To think I was still considering settling down at Ben & Jerry’s for an ice-cream cone! Hahaha!

2 1/2 hours later, arms aching and feet throbbing, we finally hailed a cab back home. Phew! What a tiring day!

Oh and our new domestic help’s here! *fingers crossed*

We’re Going To The Zoo-zoo-zoo!

Yeap! We’ll be trudging down to the Singapore Zoo tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to it!

Together with some close friends, we went for the Night Safari some weeks back, but Jay didn’t enjoy it terribly cos it took him some time to see the animals and he didn’t take to the anyone else carrying him. So it was an arm-aching exercise for me!

So this time round, Nic will be around too, and I think my boy’ll have a blast! He already enjoys watching the animals on Animal Planet!

zoo7

Oh, and the one place highly recommended by other parents as a must-go when going to the zoo?

Definitely the Rainforest Kidzworld! Check out some pictures here! How fun!
