I have eclipse-d!

I have seen Twilight.

I have seen New Moon.

And now, I am so happy I managed to catch Eclipse!

This was probably the best in the movie trilogy so far (but I can hardly wait till Breaking Dawn is released!)

Eye candy galore, much more action compared to the first two movies, and finally Bella is no longer lost (like in Twilight) or depressed (in New Moon), and the beautifully-stirring love relationship between Edward and her blossoms. It’s so touching!

However, I still prefer the book! Haha!

Movie Review: New Moon

It has been ages since my last movie, and I was so glad that last Friday, after a great dinner with my cell group members, we decided to catch New Moon! (Thankfully my dearest hubby also gave the green light for my night out!)

I love the Twilight series.

I read all four books within a one month period.

And I only took so long cos I had to wait forever for the 3rd and 4th book to reach from Amazon.com.

New Moon (the book) was my least-fave of all four. Honest. Cos I felt Bella was this whiny crybaby all throughout the book. Not a very enjoyable read (to me!)

Oh, but New Moon (the movie) was so enjoyable! It was true to the book, but yet made it so much more palatable and entertaining for the big screen. I read in a recent 8 Days magazine review that when Taylor Lautner first took his shirt off in one of the scenes of the movie, there were gasps in the cinemas. I totally experienced that, with one of my members practically hyperventilating! Hahaha!

On an aside, I think Kirsten Steward’s SO pretty!

But yet, after an informal straw poll of two of my male cell members (I said it was informal…), I was pretty surprised to learn that they didn’t think she was pretty! Huh?!?

Madness aside, it was a fun evening out… Filled with good good, good company and a good movie!

The Twilight Series

I am glad to announce… I have finished the ENTIRE series of Twilight! Yeap – all four books. I am really looking forward to Book 5!

Nic says I am obsessed with it. Because when I start reading, I really just want to finish up. Soon. But I think it is just cause he is jealous I am a fast reader. Hahaha!

Did I enjoy it? Yes!

It has an interesting twist and a storyline.

twilight

My thoughts on each of the books…

Twilight: I enjoyed this book! It isn’t a very “literary” kind of book. So people looking for an easy and interesting read would really enjoy this! I read Anne Rice’s books, but I must say I never really enjoyed, cause the whole “feel” of Rice’s books were much more sombre and solemn. Twilight is quite “fluff”! I must say… I enjoyed the book MORE than I liked the actual movie!

New Moon: As with the Harry Potter series, the books get progressively darker and darker. Of the four books, this would be one of the saddest in terms of the storyline. I must say, I can’t imagine how the movie adaptation would turn out though, since he-who-makes-the-fans-scream was absent for a good part. Haha! Did I give away too much? Oops!

Eclipse: It all boils down to choice. Choice, choice, choice! As much as “getting the best of both worlds” is what we all want, here Bella realizes it is not all that possible. Good read!

Breaking Dawn: Definitely a page-turner! And my favourite one. I especially liked the parts in the book when Stephanie Meyer wrote in the first person viewpoint of Bella and Jacob. Made it all the more interesting! Not to give too much away, it was also fun reading about the latest addition to the Cullens!

As with Harry Potter, I also realised that there are many out there who would take offense at the subject matter of the Twilight series. I mean, we are talking about vampires and werewolves here!

Well, I think as with any book and any movie you read and watch, it is all about…

Suspending your unbelief!

Read the book and see the movie for what it is… Entertainment. And hey, the book had one good theme in its favour – abstinence!

I Read "New Moon"... In Under 5 Hours (Oh, & My Starbucks Rant Too!)

I took off with Jayvon for breakfast this morning. I wanted to have a cheaper Ya Kun toast meal, but the Ya Kun outlet was (surprisingly!) crowded at 9.45 a.m. this morning.

Being too lazy to cross over to MacDonald's, I decided to settle for a much pricier Starbucks breakfast - of Hot Chocolate & a ham and mozzarella cheese sandwich!

Let me digress a little while here: While I am a great fan of Starbucks & having my daily caffeine dose from here is a great delight, I think the outlet at Parkway is really bad.

As I stood second in queue, I overheard the counter staff botching up a drink order of the person ahead of me. Maybe that should have scared me off. Haha! But as I placed my order of "Ham and Cheese Sandwich"... the girl at the cashier replied, "So that will be a Ham and Cheese Croissant?" I replied "Sandwich." (I can't stand croissants! For some strange reason they really bug me... icky taste!)

She proceeded to key in my order, get my cash, and then went to the display and took out the croissant. I had to embarrassedly scoot past the person behind me, stood in front of the display, and watched as she fiddled with both the Croissant and the Sandwich, and in the end... chose the CROISSANT.

Me (loudly... before my morning cuppa, you see): "Erm... I believe I said I wanted the SANDWICH?" (I even pointed, in case she was hard of hearing.)

Cashier: "Oh this is not a SANDWICH... It is a @($*#&$@" (Some weird fancy-sounding name for the two slices of BREAD. I mean, give me a break. It looks like a sandwich, so just call it that!)

Me: Well, that's what i wanted. What is in it?

Cashier: (Peering at the label) Mozzarella cheese and...

Me: Ham, right?

Cashier: Err... yes.

Me: Yes, that is what I wanted. Ham and Cheese Sandwich.

Well... she toasted it and it strangely turned out BLACKENED on one side and yet the cheese and ham remained COLD.

Disappointing breakfast!!!

Ok. Enough with my Starbucks rants.

I went on to Borders after my blah breakfast and bought my New Moon book! And I just completed reading it... in under 5 hours. Ha ha!

Oh and *coughcoughcough*... Err... I also just went to Amazon.com to order Books 3 & 4 of the series.

Twilight

twilight

It all happened so fast.

Yesterday after dinner, I went to Parkway to get top coat (for my beautifully done up nails), when I decided to pop into Borders to get the January issue of Project Smitten (this magazine's not out still!?! I wonder why...)

And on my way in, I bumped in Jaclyn who was on her way out.

She excitedly pulled me in and pointed to this book. What a good sister. Asking ME to pay so SHE can read.

Anyhow, I bought it.

And I finished the entire book already.

What an excellent storyline! I love it!!!

I read Lord of the Rings before the movie, and it helped me love the movie more.

I read all the Harry Potter books, before seeing each episode on the big screen, and that, too, helped me love the movie more.

And after this book... Oh man, I want to see the movie!!!

* Any babysitters out there? *

Heh... And I'll go get Books 2 & 3 tomorrow too!
