My Dream Mother’s Day

For me, my dream Mother’s Day would be one where…

I can sleep in. Till 10 a.m. (I’m realistic too)

Wake up to a yummylicious fruit platter for breakfast…

Go for a nice and long and therapeutic spa massage…

Preferably in some totally awesomely exotic place, like Mauritius.

Aaah….

Worth a dream anyhow! Hahaha!

2 Lies & A Truth

Over the weekend, I went for Nic’s company retreat – all the way to sunny Malacca! Will blog more about that soon. (I do still need to prepare for my AGM, ya know! Haha!)

Anyhoooo, on Sunday night, the bunch of them gathered in our little suite, and we play many fun games… one was “2 Lies and A Truth” – each of us had to write 3 sentences about ourselves, with 2 of them being lies and 1 being the truth.

Seemingly, I had the “obvious” advantage seeing how no one (I mean, apart from Nic of course) knew me. Some of his female colleagues even lamented that they knew so much about each other this game was a foregone conclusion.

Well, I always love a challenge so I decided to write three sentences that would stump even my very dear hubby. Whom I know for more than 10 years. Whom I’ve dated since 2000. Whom I married in 2007, and had a baby boy with.

And yes, I even managed to stump him! Woohoo!

See if you can guess which is the true sentence!

#1: I love all kinds of fruits, especially rambutans.

#2: I’ve coloured my hair all sorts of colours before, including green.

#3: I’ve been to quite a few countries in the past, including Korea.

Tell me your guesses! It doesn’t matter if you’re wrong… I mean, even Nic got it wrong. Hahaa!

B.U.S.Y

Many things have happened.

Well, just that one thing, really.

Many ask me if I am okay.

You obviously underestimate me.

My ability to forget, I mean.

That’s always the first step to letting it go.

But i guess it really also helped that I was-am-and-will-be super busy from now till March 7, 2010.

All that work has helped to distract me.

And I am so easily distracted. Haha!

Life goes on, God is good.

Bespectacled Family!

One pair of spectacles… Three times the fun!

Of course, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at who actually owns the specs!

He didn’t allow either of us to parade the shots for too long! Haha!

Check out more photos of my bespectacled boy here!

Proof That We Can Shop…

…anytime, and anywhere!

The girls over at the community services side were having a mini ‘fundraising’ and selling these gorgeous shoes imported from Korea to the rest of us.

How do you say no to a good deal and a good deed?

IMG00726-20091202-1210 (2)

Not very easily, as it turns out.

Anyway, I do need some formal shoes on occasion, and this beautiful black pair was a mere S$15!

My Very Own Phone Pest

Honest, I totally hate it when people call you on the phone and insist on not identifying themselves and say inane things like, “Guess who I am?”

It irks me.

It irks me.

IT IRKS ME A LOT!

I mean, like… what is your problem? I know my phone plan allows for incoming calls to be free, but hey, my time is still precious, ya know? What are you, like 10 years old? (Sorry to all the 10 year olds out there who don’t even do such things…)

I have my very own phone pest.

He calls me from a ‘unknown’ number (thus making me unable to call back and blast him) and talks with a drawl (that I think makes him think he is one cool cat. But in reality is irritating) and goes “Hey… hi… it’s me again…”

Oh. My. Goodness.

The first time he called, I asked him who he was (very politely and nicely, cos I thought I honestly forgot who he was, and was so apologetic!) … and even from that 1st phone call, he refused to say who he was, and insisted I guess. I mean, I don’t know. How to guess? Gosh. I cannot begin to express my irritation at this guy!

But that initial phone conversation went on for maybe five minutes, all along with me asking him who he was and he trying to coyly asking me to guess. Then I decided to put the phone down. Nic (who heard my end of the conversation) asked me:

“Who was that, dear?”

“I have no idea!”

“Then why waste so much time talking to him?”

Aah… Words of wisdom from the wise. Nic would know. He has experience handling people with mental illnesses, and sometimes attention is the one thing they crave and seek after.

But since then, this phone pest has tried calling me several times, and never ceases on that same “But you KNOW who I am” line…

So dear sir, if you are also my blog stalker as well… and in case I wasn’t clear on the phone…

I don’t know who you are. I am not going to guess. Either tell me who you are. Or do not call me. Ever. Again.

Ok, end of rant! Haha!

Feel Like Fainting?

Try peppermint gel.

See the video to the end.

The hairband one is the funniest and scariest for me! Haha! That is my private nightmare, which is why (1) I don’t wear hairbands out, no matter how in vogue they might be and (2) when I need to wear one within the confines of my home, I need to make sure I have a mirror to check my reflection!

Ya know… Just my little pet insecurity. :D

‘Fess up… You have your little quirk too! Haha!

Random Updates

It’s been quite a while since I’ve last blogged. Loads happened, so here’re LOADS of photos!

IMG_3624

What happened to Jay? Read more about it in his blog!

IMG_3634

I love the Marina Barrage – most for this gorgeous view of the city from the Garden Roof. And with hordes of people flying kites, having picnics and plain hanging out, it offers a totally different, relaxed atmosphere.

IMG_3527

Borders at Parkway has also been our frequent haunt!

I’d love to say he loves to read…

IMG_3519

But he prefers just taking the books off the shelf. And flipping them. And then taking another book. And flipping that.

IMG_3522

You get the idea.

And yesterday Shopping Junkies was at the Fashionista Event at SMU.

IMG_3835

We had a fun time decorating our booth! Thanks to Darel for bringing so much stuff!

IMG_3834

Sales was only so-so, cos the crowd was disappointingly slow-going.

Ah well, but it is a fun experience, coupled with working with good friends!

Bogged down by the flu

I’ve struggled with the flu bug for the past few days, but yesterday it really became ‘full-blown’. I had the works… a runny nose, sore throat, flammy cough and a general sense of fatigue!

Don’t you just hate the flu?

I know I do…

*sniff sniff cough cough*

On an aside, my doctor said that there’s been a spike in the number of flu cases so do remember to up your Vitamin C intake!

A pleasant surprise

Today at church Randolph came by to find me at the reception area, and passed me this book, Inspired To Pray, by Pastor Phil Pringle.

I was really pleasantly surprised! It always feels nice to be remembered and to receive presents!

Thanks so much! :)

IMG00603-20091011-1025

And what a great book this is. Pastor Phil is always one of my favourite guest speakers, and he combines art with his thoughts about prayer.

I am inspired to pray more!

Indecision

San: “I need to think…”

Nic: “Nah, you don’t think. You feel.”

San: “….. well, it means I am pliable! Hahaha…”

Decisiveness has always been such an easy thing for me. Just last night, after church service, we were deciding on what to have to dinner.

San: “Where do you want to go for dinner? Let’s grab a quick dinner. I’ve got to do something later.”

Nic: “Aston’s?”

San: “Ya know, Bijia was telling me about this great Indian restaurant just beside Aston’s! Great briyani, not too expensive.”

Nic: “Ok.”

San: “Hmm… but that restaurant will be crowded… Nah. How about food court?”

Nic: “Ok can too.”

San: “I want something soupy. Hmm… Fish soup? Fishball noodles? Hmmm…”

Nic: “Ok.”

Well, you get the idea. Poor Nic, ya?

In the end, I had chicken rice. Ha! Ha!

The point? Well, I heard something, and brought to remembrance a short conversation I had with a good friends waaaaaay back (in other words, pre-Jayvonian days).

You know how people always tend to say, “if only…” but yet when it actualizes, their actions and reactions are vastly different from how they said that they react.

So though I thought I had decided…

Maybe I need to think a bit more.

And feel which is the best way.

[Enigmatic entry, I know. Those who have ears, let them hear! Hahaha! I apologize for sounding so vague to the rest of my blog readers. But well, I need to think and pray a bit more before making any announcement! Haha!]

Random Updates

I really should be sleeping, but i napped in the afternoon and am now wide awake. Nic & Jay are happily snoozing away right now. But not before it took us one whole hour to coax Jay to sleep. He’d be rubbing his eyes and yawning, but once inside the room and on the bed, it’s like he get his second (and third and fourth) wind and gets that cheeky look on his face again. While I love my cheeky baby … not at bed time please!

image Nic is sick … Jay is sick … and I am getting sick too. Sigh! You know what they always say about a man who is sick is a baby? Well, a baby who is sick is WORSE.

I wanted to do up a short video slideshow, showing Jay since Day #1. Turns out too huge a task for so late a night. I’ve stopped at Month 3 … let’s continue that another day.

image Before Jay slept, he kept saying ‘Kuk-Key! Kuk-Key!” I think he was trying to hint to me. Another cookie day tomorrow? Hmm…

I need a good break. Which is why I am going for a scrub and massage tomorrow. Aaahhh….!

Monday’s not a good work day. I’ve had Mondays off for the past 6 years… but since last year, I’ve had to work Mondays, and I admit… it is hard-going! :P

Thinking and planning for our move back to our place in early November. Loads to do and buy and clean. Need both time and money. Any volunteers for either? Hahaha!

Thinking and planning for Jay’s childcare plans in 2010. With our schedules (especially in the evenings), we need to make sure he is well taken care of.

Budgeting.

Budgeting.

Budgeting.

I don’t know how I survived two years in Junior College doing Accountancy and three in University for my degree. Cos I hate budgeting.

Alright, gotta get some shuteye. I still have to work tomorrow, ya know! :D

I Need Me One Of This!

image

I have been thinking about this for the longest time. The OTO Power Tap.

Every time that kink on my shoulder acts up.

It must be my age.

It must be from my care of Jayvon the last few days.

Just read what the website says about this product:

"The OTO Power Tap is a one-of-a-kind hands-free tapping massager that can drum muscle aches away and transform various parts of your aching body to a state of comfort and well-being! Simply drape the OTO Power Tap across your shoulders, press a button and you're all set for a soothing massage that will make your muscles feel alive and appreciated.”

I am sold. Go get me one. Hahaha!

Work & I

I have a lot of work to do.

Honest.

A LOT.

image

So don’t ask me why I just spent a minute I can’t really spare to blog.

Hahaha! It is my stress reliever.

This… and that bottle of Mug Root Beer I just bought.

Should We Shop Alone?

Just got this email from my colleague.

I have no idea how true it is, but it is soooooooo funny!

pic16549

I love the alarm clock part! Haha!

Yawn…

sleepy03

The time is now 1.45 a.m. (yikes!)

I just finished up one long email. Long, not in terms of length of email or number of words… but long in terms of the amount of brain cells burnt up to get the email out.

Phew! It is finished and I am all set to collapse!

CAPTCHA? Argh!!!

image

image

I understand the need for word verifications.

I really do.

But Blogger’s word verification gets on my nerves! Why must the words meld into each other so? I was trying to make some changes to my blog settings when I was beset with these word verifications. These are also affectionately known as a “Captcha” or short for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. I kid you not.

I guess the three (three! THREE!!!) tries I took to pass this silly verification test shows one thing……

I am one lean mean machine.

There can be no other explanation.

2 Rainbows!

2 rainbows

Almost at the end of the day…

People are winding down, getting ready to leave the office (me too!)…

When a phenomenon stirred us up!

What a gorgeous sight! Pity my BB camera’s not the most fantastic…

The sight of not just one but TWO rainbows brightened up our day! Haha! We were asking each other, “Did you see the rainbows?!?” for the past 10 minutes.

My Randomness…

I was waiting for my bus to take me home after work today.

My trusty iris-mobile tells me the next Bus Number 36 will reach in 20 minutes. Which is probably the amount of time I need to hop into a cab and reach home. Ah well, Jayvon's at home with my mom, and I don't really have a good excuse to take a cab!

Melvin sent me (via Facebook) his list of 25 random things about himself. I am bad at lists... But good at random rambling! So let's see if I can finish this off now (with my reliable BB in hand)…

25 Random Things About Me

1. I love fruits! All kinds and every kind.

2. My pet fruits? Pomelos and seedless grapes.

3. I hate roller-coasters. Cos I’d hate to pee in my pants or puke on my shirt.

4. I can’t live without the paragraph marks in my Microsoft Word documents!

5. I have learnt the guitar for the past 8-over years. Sporadically, of course.

6. I can’t play the guitar for nuts still.

7. I really enjoyed being pregnant! (The child-raising part is a different story… but child-bearing? I like!)

8. I love the smell of freshly baked bread.

9. I love to travel … But I hate to unpack.

10. I am oddly-proud of my kitchen cabinets cos they are white on the outside and purple within! My design!

cabinet

11. And I do not cook. Except for the two or three times I made pasta and chicken soup.

12. Drinking bubble tea makes me happy!

13. I miss the 24-hour roti prata stall near my Tampines home!

14. I used to stay up overnight to play bridge! Of course, this was pre-Jayvon days. Haha!

15. I love to shop online. Love it a bit too much.

16. I contribute to the US economy (see #15).

17. But I am a patriot at heart too. I haven’t given up actually trying on clothes and buying them in Singapore.

18. I play online games to de-stress! I used to play Maplestory, but have given that up for a while. Now, I go to viwawa and bigfishgames for my regular gaming-fix!

19. I want my long hair back. Now.

20. I am seriously contemplating getting hair extensions.

21. I am a Twilight fan! The book series, not so much the movie…

22. I love watching Taiwanese game shows!

23. I haven’t worn a watch for about a year already… Though I should!

24. I hate to run but I love to swim.

25. I have a BAD sense of balance. I can trip whilst walking. On a flat ground.

Ta-da! My randomness. As you can see, I kind of cheated and finished up at home. I was half-way through when my bus reached, but there wasn’t a single seat on the bus! As you can see from my point #25, I can’t risk my life just to type on my BB and try to maintain my balance on the bus! Haha!
